Parent  meetings will  take place during the first week of term (week beginning 5th September).Dates and times were given out at the induction meeting.This gives you and your child the opportunity to talk to your key person ,share information and ask any questions.We really value our partnership with parents and this meeting marks the start of  this important relationship.

We cannot believe how quickly this school year has gone. It has been a pleasure to teach your children and we will really miss them. It has also been great to work in partnership with reception parents and we would like to say thank you for your support.

Well done to the reception children who showed great team spirit when cheering for their classmates.It was a great afternoon.Thank you to  the family members who came to watch and support us.

Reading Tip

Use your child’s interests to promote reading. If they are interested in Ben 10 read these books together.Your child should be able to find sight words and blend other words in these stories.

Remember home reading makes a significant difference to progress.

Maths Tip

Most of the children have a good understanding of addition now but find subtraction more difficult. Make up take away stories with your child and help them develop strategies to work them out

eg There are 8 birds in our garden, 3 fly away ,how many left ?

They can use counters,fingers or count back from 8 to work this out.

Next Week

Building on the girls’ interests  in fairies we have made a fairy den .We will develop reading and writing skills through this theme.

Making Ben 10 alien junk models.

We will be doing end of term individual ERR word and letter assessments to help the year one teachers know each child’s stage of development in this area.
